Austin Allen injures knee against Auburn

Arkansas quarterback Austin Allen looks to pass during a game against Auburn on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, in Auburn, Ala.

Arkansas junior quarterback Austin Allen left the Auburn game after suffering an sprained right knee injury in the second quarter, returned a series later wearing a knee brace and then exited again in the fourth quarter because of swelling and tightness in the knee.

Allen was receiving treatment in the locker room after the game.

Allen went down when Tigers defensive end Carl Lawson hit him low just after he released a pass in the second quarter. Allen stayed down on the field for several minutes and had to be helped off the field by two members of Arkansas' training staff, but — in yet another show of toughness for the first-year starter — emerged from the Hogs' medical tent with the brace and promptly returned to the game.

Redshirt freshman Ty Storey played two snaps, both running plays, after taking over for Allen, but the Hogs were forced to punt after driving into Auburn territory.

Allen finished 17 of 30 for a season-low 187 yards and an interception while being sacked three times before being relieved again by Storey for the Hogs' final two drives. Including a Storey sack late, Arkansas has allowed 21 sacks in eight games after giving up 14 in 13 games each of the last two years.
