DFW junior prospect with Arkansas ties to attend A&M game

Junior receiver Drue Jackson has Arkansas ties.

— A highly regarded Dallas-Fort Worth prospect with Arkansas ties will take advantage of Hogs playing in his backyard and attend the the game against Texas A&M at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Saturday.

Junior receiver Drue Jackson will be seeing his second consecutive Arkansas game after visiting the Razorbacks last week for the Texas State game.

“I’m going again this week with some of my family, and they’re die-hard Razorback fans,” Jackson said. “They’re from Little Rock, so I get to take them to the game. I have a family connection there, and I’ve always had Arkansas in my ear.”

Jackson, 6-1, 185, 4.56 seconds in the 40-yard dash, of Sachse, Texas, has nine scholarship offers from schools like Iowa, Colorado, Illinois, Louisville and Texas Tech. His first trip to Fayetteville came in the spring.

“It’s just a great atmosphere,” said Jackson of the Texas State game. “I was happy to be back. I have cousins that attend there just for academics, and I got to see them and hang out before the game. We even got there early and saw the tailgating and saw the Hog Walk.”

He and receivers coach Michael Smith are communicating several times a week.

“We DM and text probably three or four times a week,” Jackson said. “We talk about everything.”

Jackson recorded 13 receptions for 123 yards and a touchdown while seeing limited action as a sophomore playing behind Texas signee Devin Duverney. Smith is optimistic an offer from the Hogs will be coming after Coach Bret Bielema sees video.

“He said he personally wants me there,” Jackson said. “He said you will be a Razorback. Coach B watched my spring film because I don’t have a lot of film playing behind Devin. This year he wanted to watch my first four or five games.”

He has 18 receptions for 242 yards and 4 touchdowns in four games this season. Jackson has a 3.1 grade point average and is fully aware of the nationally acclaimed Sam M. Walton College of Business.

“I want to major in business so Arkansas has a good business school ,” Jackson said. “I got that when I first visited up therem and they refreshed my memory went I went back up. It’s just another plus.”
