Little Rock Parkview's Javon Franklin hopes to be future Razorback

Javon Franklin

— Little Rock Parkview senior forward Javon Franklin got a visit last week that has him hoping he will be a Razorback down the line.

Franklin (6-6, 190), who averaged 16 points and 8.7 rebounds this past season and is likely headed to junior college, had a home visit from Arkansas head coach Mike Anderson and assistant Melvin Watkins.

“I had an in-home visit with them the other day,” Franklin said. “They were talking about if I had to go to junior college that they would still want me later on.”

Parkview guard Khalil Garland has signed with Arkansas while junior Ethan Henderson has committed to the Razorbacks.

“I would love to go up there one day with some of my classmates,” Franklin said. “I think that would be a great experience.”

Franklin had a busy Saturday, taking a test in the morning and then chipping in 10 points and 7 rebounds in Arkansas’ 105-81 win over Tennessee in the annual Mike Conley All-Star Challenge.

He took a visit earlier this week to Bossier City, La., Community College earlier this week and is also looking at Holmes, Miss., Community College.

“I have been looking at a couple,” Franklin said. “I just took my ACT again this morning so hopefully I got a high score from that and hopefully I will just go from there. "

He was happy to get to participate in the Conley Challenge - sponsored by the Arkansas native and Memphis Grizzlies point guard - along with Arkansas signees Daniel Gafford and Darious Hall.

The squad attended the Memphis Grizzlies’ 101-88 win over the New York Knicks at Fed Ex Forum in Memphis on Friday night with Conley tossing in a game-high 31 points.

“It is always a good experience playing with other high school talent,” Franklin said. “I think we had a pretty good time and all-around it was a great experience.”
