Hogs win with crazy ending

Eric Cole, Arkansas designated hitter, hits a single Friday, April 14, 2017 during the sixth inning against Georgia at Baum Stadium in Fayetteville.

Arkansas 5, Georgia 4, FINAL

First, my apologies for not having an update sooner, but the newspaper deadline was too tight.

The Razorbacks won when Evan Lee scored on a sac bunt and two errors in the 10th. Here is a full recap.

Arkansas 4, Georgia 4, End 9th Inning

Carson Shaddy tried to atone for his errors with a two-out at-bat in the bottom of the ninth, but his long fly ball only made it to the warning track. Luke Bonfield and Grant Koch struck out in the first two at-bats of the inning.

Another two-out Shaddy error put the Razorbacks in jeopardy, but Chad Spanberger threw out Cam Shepherd at the plate to end the top of the inning. The play was challenged, but replay showed Arkansas catcher Grant Koch tagged Shepherd on the foot.

The Hogs will send Bonfield, Koch and Shaddy to the plate in the bottom of the inning.

Arkansas 4, Georgia 4, Top 9th Inning

Well, it's a familiar scene at Baum Stadium. A two-out error in the ninth has allowed Georgia to tie the game in the top of the ninth.

The Bulldogs loaded the bases with no outs in the inning. After Jake Reindl recorded a strikeout, Cam Shepherd hit into what looked like a potential game-ending double play. But it was a slow roller and Jax Biggers got the ball to Carson Shaddy late. Shaddy tried turning the double play, but threw wide of first baseman Chad Spanberger, allowing a second run to score.

Georgia's red-hot cleanup hitter Michael Curry just walked after battling back from a 1-2 count to give the Bulldogs runners on second and first with two outs in the inning.

Arkansas 4, Georgia 2, Bottom 8th Inning

The Razorbacks have been really good with two outs tonight. Jake Arledge's single scored Jax Biggers, who reached on a two-out double down the left field line. Arkansas has 11 two-out hits tonight.

Arkansas 3, Georgia 2, Middle 8th Inning

The top of the eighth was not pretty for the Razorbacks, but they will take how it ended. Jax Biggers' one-out error allowed Georgia to load the bases against reliever Dominic Taccolini, but Adam Sasser hit into a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning and preserve Arkansas' one-run lead.

Carson Shaddy began the double play and flipped the ball to Biggers, who relayed it to Chad Spanberger at first to bring the crowd of 6,419 to a roar.

Arkansas 3, Georgia 2, Bottom 7th Inning

The Razorbacks' big bats had been quiet until Luke Bonfield came to the plate with two outs in the seventh. Bonfield's home run to left-center field scored two to give Arkansas a 3-2 lead over Georgia. It scored Jax Biggers, who reached with a leadoff double but was in jeopardy of becoming the Hogs' eighth stranded runner tonight.

Grant Koch followed with a double and Carson Shaddy was intentionally walked to put two more on with two outs. Drew Moody is now in to pitch for the Bulldogs. He replaces Kevin Smith, who is in line for the loss after allow 2 runs in 1 2/3 innings.

Update: Alex Gosser grounded out to end the inning. Arkansas has stranded nine.

Georgia 2, Arkansas 1, Middle 7th Inning

Cannon Chadwick has thrown three straight scoreless innings for the Razorbacks. Also, Georgia has replaced its starter after five innings.

Arkansas put a two-out runner on again in the sixth with Eric Cole's third hit, but he was stranded. The Razorbacks have stranded seven tonight.

Georgia 2, Arkansas 1, End 5th Inning

The Razorbacks failed to record a two-out hit for the first time and the result was a runner stranded on third. Chad Spanberger reached on a one-out walk, advanced to second on a passed ball and to third on a fielder's choice. Grant Koch battled Georgia's Andrew Gist well with two outs, but Koch grounded out to the shortstop after an eight-pitch at-bat.

Georgia 2, Arkansas 1, Top 5th Inning

The Bulldogs are back on top and it's thanks to the hitter with every Georgia RBI in this series. Michael Curry's two-out single scored Tucker Bradley. Curry's hit was a grounder past the second baseman on a 1-2 fastball from Cannon Chadwick.

Curry now is 5-for-7 in this series with 6 RBI.

Arkansas 1, Georgia 1, Top 5th Inning

Trevor Stephan's night is finished with one out in the fifth. Tucker Bradley doubled to leadoff the inning and Stephan struggled to get Aaron Schunk out, so Dave Van Horn pulled him on a 1-2 count. Cannon Chadwick is the new Arkansas pitcher. He inherits a runner on third with one out.

Arkansas 1, Georgia 1, End 4th Inning

The Razorbacks have had a two-out hit in every inning tonight. Arkansas put together three straight two-out hits in the fourth to score its first run. Jared Gates singled, Eric Cole doubled and Dominic Fletcher singled to tie the game.

Fletcher's hit was a hard bouncer that hit Georgia pitcher Andrew Gist in the glove. It could have been ruled an error, but Fletcher got the friendly call from the home scorekeeper. Jax Biggers grounded out to third base to end the inning and strand runners on the corners.

Georgia 1, Arkansas 0, Top 4th Inning

Michael Curry - not Chad Spanberger - might be the hottest hitter in this series. Curry just hit his third home run in six at-bats with a leadoff shot to left. The hit came off Arkansas starter Trevor Stephan. Curry hit two home runs last night and improved to 4-for-6 with 5 RBI in the series.

Arkansas 0, Georgia 0, End 3rd Inning

The Razorbacks have stranded a runner in every inning. Chad Spanberger was left standing on second in the third. Spanberger's two-out double brought Luke Bonfield to the plate, but Bonfield hit a lazy fly ball to right to end the inning.

Arkansas 0, Georgia 0, Middle 3rd Inning

Pretty ho-hum game so far. Arkansas put a runner on with Eric Cole's one-out single in the second and Trevor Stephan worked another 1-2-3 inning in the top of the third. The top of the Hogs' order is coming back up here in the bottom of the inning.

Arkansas 0, Georgia 0, Middle 2nd Inning

After working a perfect first, Arkansas starter Trevor Stephan ran into trouble in the second when Adam Sasser loaded the bases with a one-out single. But Stephan worked out of the jam by striking out the Bulldogs' eight and nine hitters, Austin Biggar and Tucker Bradley. Stephan has three strikeouts so far.

Arkansas 0, Georgia 0, End 1st Inning

Trevor Stephan had a strikeout and worked a perfect top of the inning. The Razorbacks put two runners on in the bottom half, but a double play killed the threat.

Pregame

I say this often, but it's another beautiful evening at Baum Stadium. It's sunny and around 80 degrees. There is a nice breeze blowing in out of the south, which should help right-handed hitters.

The Razorbacks are going for the series win tonight but in a little different fashion. Georgia held its typical series-opening starter for this game so that he could stay on a Friday schedule. Senior left-hander Andrew Gist is 2-2 this year with a 3.38 ERA. Arkansas has hit lefties pretty well this year, so that will be something to watch.

Here are the starting lineups:
