Warren's Treylon Burks a four-sport standout for Lumberjacks

— Warren sophomore wide receiver Treylon Burks is certainly one of the best - if not the best - 2019 football prospects in Arkansas, but is also one of the best all-around athletes.

Burks (6-3, 205), who had 57 catches for 1,354 and 17 touchdowns this past season for the Class 4A state champion Lumberjacks (15-0), wore a couple of hats Thursday according to Warren head coach Bo Hembree.

“He is a great football player, was all-state in basketball, is playing baseball right now in the district tournament, will go run in the district track meet at 4:30 and come back and play baseball tonight if we win this game,” Hembree said. “He is just a great overall athlete.”

Burks, scheduled to be in Fayetteville Saturday for the Red-White game, was the first freshmen offered by Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema in his tenure with the Razorbacks, who were the prospects first overall offer.

He now has more than 10 offers with Arkansas and many others having stopped by this spring.

“Auburn is here today and has offered and there aren’t many who have not,” Hembree said. “He’s way past double digit (offers).”

He had three of those offers by the end of his ninth-grade school year, but has kept his head about him according to Hembree.

“He has handled it well,” He is very mature and is one of the top three or four students in his grade so he is doing everything the way he needs to both on and off the field.”

Burks had 41 catches for 815 yards and 12 touchdowns as a freshman for Warren, who downed Pea Ridge 54-37 in the championship game in 2016.

“He obviously has size, strength and speed and has good hands and runs good routes, but you can always work on the hands and the routes,” Hembree said.

He may be throwing passes instead of catching them this season.

“We are going to move him around and take a look at him at quarterback this spring and see how that goes,” Hembree said. “We know we need to have the ball in his hands as much as possible.”
