Cacciatori commits to Diamond Hogs

Sheridan pitcher Tyler Cacciatori is considered one of the top prospects in Arkansas.

— Arkansas received a commitment Wednesday from one of the state's top high school pitchers.

Sheridan right-hander Tyler Cacciatori became the Razorbacks' third commitment in the class of 2020, joining Cabot outfielder Clayton Gray and Bowie, Texas, infielder Heston Tole. Cacciatori and Gray are teammates on the Arkansas Prospects summer team.

"He just kept pushing me to commit," Cacciatori said of Gray. "He kept reminding me that there is no better Division I place to commit in the United States."

Cacciatori is rated the state's No. 1 pitcher and No. 2 prospect overall in his class by PrepBaseballReport.com. As a freshman, Cacciatori threw a no-hitter during a game against El Dorado and helped lead Sheridan to a 33-5 record and win in the Class 6A state championship game.

Arkansas offered Cacciatori last December. He also had received scholarship offers from Kentucky and Arkansas State, and was drawing interest from Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Alabama.

"I've always grown up an Arkansas fan and my family has always wanted me to go to Arkansas," Cacciatori said.

"If you go to a (Razorbacks) game and see all the fans there and how hype it gets, I'd say it's a pretty easy decision."
