Arkansas freshman scores 4 goals in rout

Arkansas freshman Parker Goins scored four goals during the Razorbacks' win over Abilene Christian on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, in Fayetteville.

Arkansas freshman Parker Goins scored as many times Sunday as the team had scored through the first three games of the season.

Goins scored four goals in the Razorbacks' 6-1 win over Abilene Christian at Razorback Field. Arkansas improved to 2-2 this season.

Goins, a Broken Arrow, Okla., native, scored in the 17th, 33rd, 48th and 61st minutes to tie the program record for most goals in a game.

The feat had been accomplished 14 other times by 10 Arkansas players, most recently by Julie Williford in a 2001 game against LSU.

Goins had several chances to break the record and finished with eight shots. She had a shot saved by ACU goalkeeper Erin Smith in the fourth minute and another shot go wide in the 10th minute.

Goins missed a free kick opportunity in the 27th minute after Gabby Symmank was assessed a red card for pulling her down on a breakaway. She had another attempt blocked in the 57th minute.

Goins' short goal in the 33rd minute gave Arkansas a 2-1 lead. ACU had tied the game 1-1 on Dylan Owens' goal in the 21st minute.

Freshmen Abbi Neece (78th minute) and Allie Dunn (85th minute) added goals for the Razorbacks late in the second half. Reid Sibley had three assists, while Stefani Doyle and Nayali Perez had two apiece.

Arkansas plays again Friday against James Madison at 7 p.m.
