Weather Service: Harvey remnants not likely to affect Hogs' opener

— The remnants of Hurricane Harvey are not expected to significantly affect Arkansas' season opener tomorrow night, according to the National Weather Service.

Heather Cross of the NWS office in Little Rock said the tropical system pushed further east than predicted earlier this week. The forecast for Arkansas' game against Florida A&M at War Memorial Stadium calls for a 30 percent chance of rain and temperatures in the 70s.

"Tomorrow afternoon and as we move into the evening, (the rain) is going to start moving out and tapering off," Cross said. "We'll have rain before (the game) but it should start moving out of the area throughout the evening.

"Rainfall amounts are probably going to be less than a half-inch total. It's not looking like it's going to be too rainy tomorrow evening so that shouldn't affect the outdoor events too much."

Cross said there is a slight chance thunderstorms could develop around Little Rock in the afternoon and evening hours.

"We have mostly rain, but there could be a thunderstorm with that, so it's something we'll have to monitor," Cross said. "Most likely, it won't cause too much of an impact."
