Fulwider expected to sign with Arkansas on Friday

Nick Fulwider

— Arkansas expects to add its eighth prospect in the early signing period on Friday when Tyrone, Ga., Sandy Creek defensive end Nick Fulwider (6-7, 260) is set to ink his national letter-of-intent with the Razorbacks.

Fulwider, who had been committed to North Carolina since Nov. 2, confirmed his intention to do be a Razorback on Thursday night and plans to sign at 11 a.m. CST at his school, which is 25 miles from downtown Atlanta.

“My parents and I sit down and talked about everything that Arkansas had to offer and North Carolina had to offer and just figured out that Arkansas has everything that I really need, especially when it comes to my major,” Fulwider said. “I want to major in mechanical engineering - Arkansas has that and North Carolina doesn’t. That was a big factor.”

Fulwider, a three-star prospect per ESPN who has 28 offers, also had offers from Arkansas, Louisville, Michigan State, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Iowa State, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Duke, Minnesota and others.

New Arkansas head coach Chad Morris contacted Fulwider right away after arriving from SMU on Dec. 7.

“Arkansas coaches are all-around genuine people,” Fulwider said. “Outside of the coaching, they are just really, really good people. They are fun to talk to, easy to talk to. I can see myself playing for them with ease and not be having problems because they are such good people.”

Fulwider, who added 15 pounds this fall, had 33 tackles this past season with a sack and four quarterback hurries.

“I think my biggest thing right now is that I have got to get more flexible,” Fulwider said. “I am pretty strong and have quickness, but need to continue to focus on technique with my trainer. Once I get everything all together, I think I will turn out to be a pretty good player that will be ready for the SEC.”
