Arkansas-Mississippi State predictions

Daryl Macon (4) of the Arkansas Razorbacks celebrates a made three pointer against Florida Thursday Dec. 29, 2016 at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville.

— Our staff's predictions for Arkansas' home game Tuesday against Mississippi State.

The Hogs played both of the SEC's best teams (Kentucky and Florida) in their first three games and now get a chance to pocket two home wins against young teams this week. Arkansas is older and more talented than Mississippi State and Missouri, so the mini homestand allows Mike Anderson to experiment with playing Moses Kingsley and Trey Thompson together, try to get Dusty Hannahs untracked and maybe get freshmen C.J. Jones and Adrio Bailey some run.

Mississippi State is led by a very good player in Q Witherspoon and has a former Arkansas high school star in Little Rock Parkview's I.J. Ready, who once formed a backcourt with Arkansas' Anton Beard. The Bulldogs lost a home game to Alabama and then ripped LSU in Baton Rogue. I think the Razorbacks are ready to reel off a good stretch here.

Mississippi State is coming off a big win at LSU, but the Tigers aren't anywhere near the level of Arkansas. The Bulldogs' losses to Lehigh and East Tennessee State tell me they aren't winning at Bud Walton Arena, where the Razorbacks have been close to unbeatable.
