Sunday Recruiting Tidbits

Tommy Kujawa

— First one to arrive, first one to leave.

That fit Greendale, Wisconsin athlete Tommy Kujawa (6-3, 220) - a preferred walk on candidate - who was one of the 13 official visitors that Arkansas hosted this weekend.

“Really impressive,” Kujuwa said. “All the facilities were new and awesome. The coaching staff was great, just a great visit.”

Arkansas’ facilities certainly made an impression on Kujawa, who was making his first visit to Fayetteville and is projected as a tight end or fullback by the Razorbacks.

“Probably just the facilities tour,” Kujawa said. “Everything was just really, really impressive. Super cool.”

Kujawa missed his entire junior season with a knee injury and then only got to play five games his senior season because of a dislocated elbow.

“It sucked not being able to be out there on the field,” Kujawa said. “You spend a lot more time doing rehab and stuff than actually training and the mental side of it, too, is really tough, but what are you gonna do?”

Kujawa was productive when he was on the field rushing for 658 yards on 77 attempts while scoring four touchdowns and catching 24 passes for 270 yards and two more scores.

He is also a preferred walk on candidate at Iowa, where he has visited unofficially several times and will visit officially next weekend.

Kujawa also has offers from Illinois State and Northern Illinois.

“I am still kind of waiting until the end and just weighing my options, just seeing every place that I can,” Kujawa said. “Then me and my family will decide on whether I am coming up here.”

Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema played with Kujawa’s dad at Iowa.

“I have met him previously a time or two and he is good friends with my uncle and my dad and I had talked to him a little bit,” Kujawa said.

Arkansas freshman fullback Hayden Johnson was Kujawa’s host for the weekend.

“I liked him a lot, cool dude, great host,” Kujawa said.

With national signing date on Feb. 1, Kujawa will soon be choosing his college.

“Probably coming up here in about a week,” Kujawa said. “Sometime shortly after that (Iowa visit). I’m visiting Friday so probably in the next few days after that.”

11:15 a.m. update

Ashdown safety and Arkansas safety commit Montaric Brown finished up his official visit to Fayetteville on Sunday morning.

He noted that he had a great time visiting with the current Arkansas players and future ones.

“Just getting to bond with the players and talking to the coaches about situations that are going to happen," Brown said. " It was a great experience, a great time, and I had a great time bonding with the players.”

The obvious big question was whether he will take a schedule visit to Oklahoma State next weekend or solidify his pledge to the Razorbacks.

“I don’t really know at this point," Brown said. "I’m just thinking. I might not. I may, but I may not.”

Arkansas freshman McTelvin Agim is close to Brown, was his host this weekend, and obviously would like to have the recruit sign with the Razorbacks.

“McTelvin -- Sosa -- he’s like a brother to me," Brown said. "We’ve always had a great bond since I met him. He comes down to Ashdown sometimes when he’s down in the city. We just talk about stuff. He’s not pressuring me or telling me what to do. He’s like a big brother to me, though.”
