Calloway's destination is final piece of Arkansas recruiting puzzle

Chevin Calloway

— It appears there is only one big question out there left for the Arkansas football recruiting class, one that will be answered early Wednesday morning when national signing day rolls around.

Dallas Bishop Dunne four-star cornerback Chevin Calloway (5-10, 180), an Under Armour All-American, will announce his decision at 10 a.m. on ESPNU with Arkansas, Ole Miss and Texas the three schools left on his list.

“I’m relieved, it is finally here, the day I will be able to make my decision and all the schools and the stress, the weight’s that on my back weight will be off,” Calloway told Dallas TV station NBCDFW.com. “Everything will be a lot better once I sign.”

Calloway had 55 tackles and 3 interceptions this past season for head coach Michael Johnson, who has high praise for the young man.

“He has the talent, but he also has the work ethic to back up that talent and that is why he is a special young man,” Johnson said. “I don’t say this lightly. He is one of the best players that I have coached in the eight years that I have been at Bishop Dunne.”

The Razorbacks No. 22 nationally in the team rankings per ESPN.com and other recruiting services have them from Nos. 25-30.

Arkansas already has nine players from the 2017 class enrolled, another signed and the addition of Calloway would mean they would be signing 14 on Wednesday.

The group already includes a loaded haul of cornerbacks Kamren Curl (6-2, 190), Jordan Curtis (6-2, 180), Jacques McCellion (6-1, 180) and Korey Hernadez (6-1, 180), who is already enrolled.

It also includes a pair of safeties in Ashdown 4-star and U.S. Army All-American Montaric Brown (6-1, 180) and New Orleans area prep star Derrick Munson (6-2, 200).

The two lasted additions to the class came on Sunday with Riverside, Calif., Community College defensive tackle Melvin Johnson (6-5, 285) and Pulaski Robinson outside linebacker David Porter (6-3, 240) both committing on Sunday.

Arkansas is also likely to add three blue shirts in Fayetteville offensive lineman Ty Clary (6-4, 275), Hutchinson, Kan., CC defensive end Gabe Richardson (6-3, 245)
