Ashdown's LaDarrius Bishop commits to Mississippi State

CB LaDarrius Bishop of Ashdown.

— Ashdown cornerback LaDarrius Bishop committed to Mississippi State on Saturday.

Bishop (6-1, 180, 4.35), who had an Arkansas offer during the process before the Razorbacks filled up with two others cornerbacks in the 2018 class, chose Mississippi State over co-finalist Oklahoma State and numerous others.

Bishop, a former teammate of Arkansas 2017 safety signee Montaric Brown, let Bulldog head coach Dan Mullen know of his decision last week.

Bishop committed via Twitter and noted that important factors to him when he began the recruiting process were playing in either SEC or Big 12, attending a university where he could receive a great education and playing for great coach.

“I quickly discovered that all of these universities covered my priorities,” Bishop said. “(Oklahoma State head) Coach (Mike) Gundy, (Arkansas head) Coach (Bret) Bielema and Coach Mullen are all great people and great coaches and each school is a top academic university so at that point I had to add a fourth priority.”

That fourth priority was “which football program had the defensive coordinator and defensive back coach that I could relate to the most and I felt could get me to the next level.

“So after considering my fourth priority I have made my decision and the University I will be continuing my education and football career at will be…Mississippi State. Hail State.”

Bishop totaled 36 tackles with one interception and five PBUs as a junior and had 136 rushing yards and one touchdown, and had 406 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
