Taccolini, Alberius sign with draft teams

— Arkansas pitchers Dominic Taccolini (San Diego Padres) and Josh Alberius (Miami Marlins) have signed with the teams that drafted them earlier this month.

Taccolini's contract included a $5,000 signing bonus, according to MLB.com, well below the slot value of $136,600. The Padres drafted Taccolini in the 10th round earlier this month with the 288th pick overall.

The signing bonus is not known for Alberius, who was drafted by the Marlins in the 36th round.

Five Arkansas players have signed this month. Trevor Stephan reportedly received an $800,000 signing bonus after being drafted in the third round by the New York Yankees and Chad Spanberger signed with the Colorado Rockies for his $260,200 slot value in the sixth round, according to MLB.com.

Cannon Chadwick received $10,000 from the New York Mets for his ninth-round selection. about $130,000 under slot value.

The only Arkansas player who remains unsigned is Blaine Knight, who was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 29th round after falling because of sign-ability concerns. Knight is expected to return to the Razorbacks for the 2018 season.
