Dallas Opening Regional updates

Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema speaks on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, on the team's signing day results during the Northwest Arkansas Razorback Club Signing on the Hill event at the Holiday Inn & Convention Center in Springdale.

— Numerous Arkansas athletes and prospects will be taking part in the Nike Football The Opening Regional Dallas at The Ford Center at The Star today.

Cornerback LaDarius Bishop of Ashdown, defensive back Tevin Eckwood of Springdale Har-Ber and athlete Nathan Page of Joe T. Robinson are just a few in-state prospects expect to take part.

Arkansas linebacker commit Bumper Pool of Lucas, (Texas) Lovejoy, linebacker Alston Orji of Rockwall and safety DeMarvion Overshown of Arp, Texas are others planning to be on hand.

The event starts off about 9:30 a.m. and will last until about 3:30. Updates will be posted during the day.

11:37 update

Bumper Pool had a 4.24 shuttle, 31 vertical and threw the power ball 38 feet.

LB Alston Orji of Rockwall, Texas said he's planning to get up to Fayetteville soon. He said Pool and QB commit Connor Noland are aggressively recruiting him. He talks to Coach Bret Bielema and LB coach Vernon Hargreaves.

Safety Josh Proctor of Owasso, Okla. said he's talking to DC Paul Rhoads. He and former Hog CB Jared Collins are cousins. He said he considering a visit to Fayetteville.

LB Byron Hobbs of Ft. Worth Eastern Hills said his grandfather, who lives in Little Rock, jokes that he only needs to consider Arkansas after receiving the offer from the Hogs this week.

Highly regarded WR Miles Battle of Houston (Texas) Cy Creek said Coach Bret Bielema is only one of three head coaches he communicates with. He said plans to visit the Hogs during the spring. Arkansas is one of 24 schools that have offered.

5:18 update

Bumper Pool was named the LB MVP of the Regional. He made a speculator interception while backing into coverage and was able to tip the ball and caught the ball while falling on the ground.

Byron Hobbs made the cut for the top LBs of the camp that competed in the finals of the 7-on-7.

Offensive tackle Darrell Simpson of Northwest High School in Justin, Texas said he's planning to line up a visit to Arkansas. He made the final five of the offensive linemen that went up against the final five defensive lineman.

Simpson, 6-7, 330 pounds, received a scholarship offer from Anderson on Jan. 19. He has 20 other offers from schools like LSU, Auburn, Baylor, Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas A&M and Oklahoma.

Miles Battle was named the WR MVP.

Offensive lineman Nigel Brannon, 6-5, 340 of Oklahoma City John Marshall said he remains interested in Arkansas. He has an offer from TCU. He would be a camp guy for the Hogs.
