Hall gets OK to suit up Friday

Arkansas freshman Darious Hall goes for a layup during a practice Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2017, in Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE -- Arkansas Razorbacks guard Darious Hall will play against Missouri Western in the team's second exhibition game Friday night, Coach Mike Anderson said, after he sat out the exhibition opener last week because of concussionlike symptoms.

Hall, a freshman from Mills, bumped heads in practice with freshman center Daniel Gafford.

Anderson said Hall did some shooting Sunday and resumed practicing full speed Monday.

"He's fired up about getting out there on the floor and we are, too," Anderson said Wednesday. "I'm looking forward to seeing him out there in action because he's really been having some really good practices.

"He has really had some good workouts, and I want to see him have some carryover into a game setting."

Hall's return will give the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville nine scholarship players for the Missouri Western game after it had eight in the 78-66 victory over Central Oklahoma on Friday night.

Senior forwards Arlando Cook and Dustin Thomas are practicing with the Razorbacks, but they're suspended from playing in games for disciplinary reasons.

Anderson suspended Cook from all team activities after he was arrested and charged Sept. 2 with misdemeanor first-degree assault, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. He returned to practice two weeks ago.

Thomas didn't play against Central Oklahoma because he was suspended for an undisclosed violation of team rules, Anderson said, and he may miss the first three regular-season games against Samford, Bucknell and Fresno State.

Cook is scheduled to appear in Fayetteville District Court on Jan. 3, according to the city prosecutor's office, and Anderson has said he won't play until his legal issues are resolved.

Khalil Garland, a freshman from Little Rock Parkview, still has not been medically cleared to play, Anderson said.

Sophomore guard Jalen Harris is practicing, but he isn't eligible to play this season because he is redshirting after transferring from New Mexico.
