Arkansas cornerback commitment Byron Hanspard Jr. made his official visit to Fayetteville this weekend, his first visit since pledging to the Hogs in the spring.

He was able to spend more time with the players and learn about the potential majors he might study along with future opportunities.

“I got to feel the family atmosphere and everything they have to offer,” Hanspard said. “I got the chance to speak with the business teacher and everything she had to offer as far as the opportunity base and everything that the college offers. I got to speak to a pre-physical therapy program as well.”

“Everything at Arkansas just sets you up for success in the future. The opportunity base and everything they have to offer is definitely for the impact of our lives and definitely for the impact of my future to come.”

Hanspard, 6-1, 188 pounds, 4.44 in the 40-yard dash, will play in the Under Armour All American game in Orlando on Jan. 4. ESPN rates Hanspard a four-star recruit, No. 13 cornerback and No. 100 overall prospect in the nation.

He enjoyed getting to know the other official visitors, Earle quarterback Gerry Bohanon and offensive lineman Curtis Dunlap of IMG Academy of Bradenton, Florida.

“Gerry is actually a good dude,” Hanspard said. “I didn't know anything about him until I got here. As a person, he's a better person than he is player. Just the vibe he has, the mentality he has, he’s definitely uncommon. I told him when it's time to sign that paper in December come on home. He's debating between other colleges, but just stay right here at home. So let's get it going.”

Hanspard was hosted by freshman running back Chase Hayden on Friday and freshman cornerback Chevin Calloway.

“Those are definitely some uncommon men there,” Hanspard said. “Chevin is from back home in Dallas we had a little bit of a relationship going there. He took us out last night and definitely a great time. Nothing, but family atmosphere and family bond everywhere you go. You see football players looking out for each other.”

He made an unofficial visit to Fayetteville for last year’s Florida game without his parents. His father, Byron Sr. and mother, Yolanda visited with Hanspard in the spring and made this weekend’s trip.
