Razorbacks expect to add six today

Fort Smith Northside guard Isaiah Joe (10) goes for a basket during the 7A boys state championship basketball game against North Little Rock at Bank of the Ozarks Arena on Satuday, March 11, 2017, in Hot Springs.

Arkansas Razorbacks basketball Coach Mike Anderson and his staff are expected to sign six players to national letters of intents today, the first day of the early signing period that lasts until Nov. 15.

The Hogs will ink three in-state prospects, who all played for the 17-under Arkansas Hawks.

Jonesboro guard Desi Sills, 6-1, 170 pounds, is expected to sign at 1:45 p.m. today in the lobby of the school's gymnasium. Little Rock Parkview power forward Ethan Henderson, 6-9, 190, and Fort Smith Northside guard Isaiah Joe 6-4, 170, will sign at 3 p.m. today during ceremonies at their schools.

Sills committed to the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville over scholarship offers from Missouri, SMU, Alabama-Birmingham and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

"I can't wait to sign because I'll officially be a Razorback, and I can't wait to get up on the Hill because I plan to help the Razorbacks return to the top of the college basketball world," Sills said.

Joe committed to the Hogs in August 2016. He pledged to the Razorbacks over scholarship offers from Alabama and UALR while drawing interest from Stanford, Tulsa, Auburn, Tennessee and numerous others.

"When I'm signing, I'm going to feel real blessed and honored to get this opportunity, especially to be able to do it in front of my friends and family and get all the support from them and God," Joe said.

Henderson picked the Razorbacks in September of 2016 over scholarship offers from LSU, Notre Dame, Indiana, Texas and Arizona State. ESPN rates him the No. 23 power forward and No. 88 overall prospect.

Guard Keyshawn Embery, 6-4, 187, of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., will ink with Arkansas at 10 a.m. Central time. He chose the Hogs over more than 20 offers from schools such as Texas A&M, West Virginia, Arizona State, Nebraska, Kansas State, Houston, Virginia Tech and Oklahoma State.

Guard-forward Jordan Phillips, 6-7, 210, of Arlington (Texas) Grace Prep Academy chose the Razorbacks over scholarship offers from TCU, Arizona State, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Fresno State, SMU and others.

He is expected to sign at noon today.

"I feel great about it. It's truly a blessing to be able to be in this position, and I'm truly grateful," Phillips said.

Power forward Reggie Chaney, 6-8, 230, of Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nev., is also expected to ink with the Hogs today. He had approximately 15 scholarship offers from schools such as Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, DePaul, TCU, Wichita State and others.

ESPN rates Chaney a four-star prospect and the No. 28 power forward.

Arkansas' women's basketball Coach Mike Neighbors added Oklahoma transfer Chelsea Dungee and Florida State transfer A'Tyanna Gaulden to the program in the spring. He isn't expected to sign anyone today, but he might sign someone during the spring signing period.

Dungee, 5-11, was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team last season for the Sooners.

Gaulden, 5-11, played in 21 games and averaged 1.1 points, 0.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 5.7 minutes a game as a freshman.

Both will sit out the 2017-2018 season because of NCAA transfer rules.
