Fan reaction to Saturday’s 42-24 win over New Mexico State …

GentryRazrbk: If I hadn’t watched the game and come to these forums to find out who won, I would have thought we lost.

HogQ: I thought something similar.

bush hog: While some positives, some in the fan base have expectations far beyond just beating Sun Belt competition.

Swine Fusion: Hogs did … a lot better against non-SEC competition than LSU did.

Bikehog23: A win is a win. Having said that, I’m not looking to find negatives, only looking at what we need to improve. After watching the rest of the SEC games Saturday, there was one quote that did come to mind … when Larry Johnson of UNLV told Nolan Richardson, “You need to go out and get you some men.” We have some finesse players, but not nearly enough men …

daBoar: I’ve seen improvement each game since TCU. I think A&M is a lot better than many credit. Yes, the Hogs had their chances for a W, and maybe should have done it. Still, racking up more than 40 points on the road was solid for the offense. Against NMS, virtually no yards rushing for the Aggies. Just stout. You can give up a lot of passing yards if they can’t run it in.

Oklahawg: I think one of the biggest issues for me is we need to “improve” our assessment of TCU and A&M. What if TCU runs the table? A&M could be the No. 2 team in the SEC West before all is said and done.

BBBBigChop: Texas A&M is 3-1. Not sure why our fans keep assuming the Aggies are a bad team. Yes they lost to UCLA, but they also beat the stuffing out of the Bruins in the first half. Just didn’t finish.

On the struggles of other SEC programs so far this season …

Swine Fusion: It’s too bad we don’t play Tennessee this year. Ouch. (Tennessee, who lost 41-0 at home to Georgia) is not a happy place at the moment. However, it is a good thing we don’t play Georgia.

Hawgcotton: There will likely be coaching changes at the following schools this year: Texas A&M, Tennessee, Missouri, Ole Miss.

Jhawg: … (Alabama) pounded Ole Miss 66-3. I would bet there was a little anger after the Rebs have beaten (Nick Saban’s team) a couple of times … Ole Miss better get use to this. After the NCAA guts their squad through scholarship reductions, they are gonna have it rough for several years.

StillGregHog: I said from the beginning that Ole Miss could well have a season like we did after we fired Bobby Petrino. They have some talent, but once the wheels come off, it could be a very long year.

Reaction to Arkansas being favored to beat South Carolina …

Neastarkie: I’m a little surprised at that.

Gay: Considering how in the second half Texas A&M completely dominated South Carolina (last week), I am not surprised that the Razorbacks are favored. I expect Arkansas to win and they may win by several touchdowns.

On junior offensive lineman Hjalte Froholdt …

LongTimeHog: Went back and watched the offensive line (against New Mexico State). Hjalte Froholdt has to be the most-improved player on the team. You can see he recognizes things faster and is playing with confidence.

ELVISHOG: I remember everyone saying he just needed to learn the position. Looks like a success story. … Line play has fallen below expectations, which is why it’s nice to make note of a bright spot.

Predictions for Saturday’s game at South Carolina …

JacksonReid: Carolina 27-31. When will Arkansas win a game against a Power 5 opponent?

bakedhog19741: Carolina, 31-21.

Hogmaestro: Arkansas 35, Carolina 24.

daBoar: I like that, but I’ll say Hogs 38-27. Yes, a field goal, too.

Army Hog: Hogs 45, Chickens 10. If you watched them play A&M you wouldn’t give them as much credit. Zero threat in the running game and with pressure you can force turnovers. I believe it’s time for some pressure. Hogs will get five sacks and two interceptions.

Quack12: SC 41, UofA 21. Back to reality after the NMSU game. Bad first road game. Still haven’t beaten a Power 5.

LDHog: Hogs 34, USC 21.

Razorwill: My son picks Arkansas 24, South Carolina 17. He was pretty close last week. I think this will be a close game. I pick Arkansas 27, South Carolina 24.

Colorado Hog: Don’t know what to say on this one. They do have a passing game and our idea of defense is to watch the QB throw to a wide open receiver and hope he drops it. I gather they do not run well, but except for lower level teams, our idea of stopping the run is to let the back go four to six yards and then think about maybe tackling him. All of that leads to giving up 400-plus yards. I do think we can score on them, but we scored 43 on A&M and still lost. Was not too far off last week. Let’s see: Hogs 44, USC 38.

Jhawg: Colorado Hog, I like your description of our defense. That is dang funny, yet sad and true. Against my head, my heart says Arkansas 24, South Carolina 23. I just can’t pick a team coached by Will Muschamp.

MountainHawg: TCU game looks great if they win out. It’s the A&M game we’ll be kicking ourselves over for the rest of the season. With that said, Hawgs 52, Chicken Littles (especially after the game) 17.

eaglehog5: Fourth Quarter continues to bite us in the hiney. Poultry 17, Pork 14.

SwineIzFine: 35-24, Pigs.

Jimbeau77: Hogs 38, South Carolina 17

donwells: I’m not sure why everyone gives SC so much love — 44-17, Good Guys.

Hogbacker: 31-17. Hope we pull out all the stops and play like there’s no tomorrow.

TVGHog: Hogs 38, Chickens 21.

TheHuntinHog: Carolina has zero chance of scoring 27 points. Arkansas will win against a Power 5 opponent this weekend.

White25: Cocks 16, Hogs 15. Hogs would roll if we played at one of our three home stadiums.

Hawginator: Arkansas 28, South Carolina 27. I don’t seem much difference in talent level of these two teams. Both have plenty of issues on both sides of the ball. Given all that, I would normally go with the home team, but I just have a hunch the Hogs find a way at the end to pull this one out. Limpert kicks the winning extra point in with under a minute to play.

Hogsr2cool: My expectation is that we will play down to our competition so it will be close in the fourth quarter, and we’ve seen how most close games end. Hope I’m wrong but the history is there.

JJhog18: South Carolina 38, Hogs 24.

drhog: Hogs 3, South Carolina 2.
