Staff Picks: Arkansas at Alabama

Arkansas receiver Jordan Jones carries the state flag onto the field prior to a game against South Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, in Columbia, S.C.

The bounce-back effect should be discounted this week. Alabama is much better than South Carolina. This is a year when there is a huge gap between the Tide and everyone else in the SEC. Alabama is the best in the trenches.

Alabama, 48-10

Matt Jones

No need to overanalyze. Alabama should be able to name its score, although I don’t think it will be quite like the Vanderbilt or Ole Miss blowouts.

Alabama, 49-17

Harry King

The margin will be even worse if the Razorbacks are again 4-0 in turnovers.

Alabama, 35-7

Bo Mattingly

Arkansas did the best it could to lure Alabama to sleep, but it won’t work.

Alabama, 52-7

Jimmy Carter

Cole Kelley will have to make his first career start if Austin Allen can’t go, a daunting task for any QB. No one envies whoever winds up taking snaps.

Alabama, 49-10

Dudley E. Dawson

It’s going to be a tough two weeks for Arkansas. There are so many questions and so few answers.

Alabama, 59-21

Wally Hall

The odds are long, but the Hogs have a chance: If Tide quarterback Jalen Hurts loses two fumbles and suffers two interceptions and all four are turned into Razorbacks points - and Hurts gets pulled - the game could be closer than expected. Cole Kelley gets an SEC baptism.

Alabama, 35-14

Tommy Craft

Hard to feel like the Razorback program is in a position to even be close this week, much less to contend. Alabama, 55-3

Bart Pohlman

Arkansas has no chance against Alabama based on what we’ve seen. None. Zero. Zilch. Zip.

Alabama, 49-10

Chip Souza

It’s been a long time since Arkansas went into a game with virtually no one giving them a chance. I remember in 2004, the Hogs faced a similar situation at Texas. Matt Jones was a beast that day and Arkansas stunned everyone by trouncing the Horns. OK, that won’t happen today.
