Staff Picks: Auburn at Arkansas

Both teams are desperate for a victory. Arkansas would like some revenge for a stinging loss last year at Auburn. That will assure good effort. The key will be the development of the rebuilt offensive line. The Hogs might be able to run the ball a little better this week. That will give Cole Kelley some needed help.

Auburn is among the SEC's best in running in stopping the run - a lethal combo against Arkansas. Expect the Tigers to make the Razorbacks win with the pass, a difficult task for a freshman starting his second game.

Auburn 37-17

Jimmy Carter

Ole Miss is going to be a huge swing game. Arkansas can’t match up with Auburn on either line.

Auburn 41-14

Wally Hall

Containing the Tigers balanced offense has to be the No. 1 concern for the Razorbacks. The Tigers average 222.4 yards rushing and 216 passing. They are coming off a surprise loss at LSU, 27-23, after leading by 20. Either the Hogs are going to catch an angry Auburn team or a stunned bunch of Tigers. The Hogs receivers are getting better by the week and Cole Kelley should find playing at home more comfortable than in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Hogs are coming off a "moral-victory" loss to Alabama, 41-9, and are trying to get first conference victory of the season. Tigers are looking to stay in the hunt for second place in the SEC West.

I think we’ll certainly see a more competitive effort from Arkansas than it has had in about a month, but at the end of the night, 2-5 will still be 2-5.

Auburn 34-21

Auburn is not Alabama. This might be as simple as which team runs the ball the best.

Just when we thought Auburn was ready to make a jump to elite status, the WarEagleTigers blow a big lead and lose to an average LSU team. I’m not sure Auburn has its quarterback, but the WarEagleTigers have a solid run game and they will hammer Arkansas with that today.

Auburn 38-21

Bo Mattingly

I liked the fight Arkansas displayed at Alabama and they will need that and more to upset Auburn. The Tigers have a great defense and it’ll be a challenge to run it, which is not a good recipe for Arkansas. The Hogs’ defense showed signs of life against Bama and could have some success against an up-and-down Auburn offense. The atmosphere will help the Hogs, but in the end, there’s just too many questions with the Razorbacks to pick them.

Auburn 20-14

Bart Pohlman

It doesn’t get any easier for Arkansas, as the Hogs now face an Auburn team angry after a loss to LSU. It’ll be closer than the Alabama game, at least.

Auburn 35-17

Catching Auburn off a loss to LSU will be considered by some even more bad luck for an Arkansas team that seems riddled with snake bites, but hopefully another week of practice reps will develop Cole Kelley further and the defense will keep blitzing this week.
