Bielema lauds Enos in wake of father's death

— Bret Bielema praised offensive coordinator Dan Enos as a “relentless, selfless person” for how he dealt with the death of his father, whose funeral was Sunday.

Enos called plays in Arkansas' 38-37 win over Ole Miss on Saturday, then flew home to Michigan to be with his family. He arrived back in Fayetteville on Monday.

“We all have those moments, but it seemed like wham bam and everything was coming against us,” Bielema said. “I think it was the bye week when (Enos) came in and it was tough because he was putting his pops in hospice and knew it was going to come at some point.”

Bielema arranged for Enos to fly to see his dad a few days before his passing.

“The week before (his death) on that Thursday he got a call that it wasn’t going good so I arranged for a plane to take him up so he got to see his dad before he passed because Sunday he was gone already and he wouldn’t have been able to get home,” Bielema said. “So that was huge.

“To know last week, preparing the game plan and trying to get a first-year quarterback and to have all those things that you guys know are going on, all the noise around you and just stay focused on the sidelines and when that rough stretch hit, I know he was frustrated at times, (but) to persevere."

Arkansas presented Enos with the game ball after the win over the Rebels.

“To see the reaction from him and our players in the locker room, to be able to let him get home and be around all the family that reminds us what it is all about," Bielema said.
