— Eighteen former Arkansas players are on active NFL rosters entering the first week of the season.

That number includes all three players - defensive end Deatrich Wise, tight end Jeremy Sprinkle and defensive tackle Jeremiah Ledbetter - who were drafted earlier this year. Mitchell Loewen, who spent last season on the injured reserve list, also is on an active roster for the first time.

Six former Arkansas players are on practice squads and three will start the season on the injured reserve. Here is a full look at each player's situation with one day left before the season opener between New England and Kansas City:

Active Roster

Brandon Allen (Rams)

Allen spent the majority of the preseason in Jacksonville. He'll battle to be Jared Goff's backup in Los Angeles.

A.J. Derby (Broncos)

Derby is entering his first full season in Denver after a midseason trade brought him from New England last October.

Trey Flowers (Patriots)

Flowers had a breakout season with seven sacks last year and has become a stalwart on the Patriots' defensive front.

Brett Goode (Packers)

The consistent long snapper is in his 10th season with one of the NFL's best organizations.

Hunter Henry (Chargers)

After catching eight touchdowns as a rookie, Henry was a standout in the preseason for the Chargers.

Jeremiah Ledbetter (Lions)

With Jordan Hill on the injured reserve list, Ledbetter could see substantial playing time early in Detroit.

Mitchell Loewen (Saints)

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the former Arkansas players to make an active roster, Loewen was an undrafted free agent who spent last season rehabbing a foot injury.

Ryan Mallett (Ravens)

Mallett was inconsistent as the preseason starter in Baltimore. Joe Flacco is back from injury in time to start the season opener.

Darren McFadden (Cowboys)

McFadden should figure prominently into the Cowboys' plans early in the season while Ezekiel Elliot serves his six-game suspension. He rushed for more than 1,000 yards as the feature back in Dallas in 2015.

Jason Peters (Eagles)

The longest tenured and most successful former player from Arkansas, Peters is entering his 14th professional season looking for his 10th trip to the Pro Bowl.

Darius Philon (Chargers)

Philon was one of nine defensive linemen the Chargers kept on their active roster.

Martrell Spaight (Redskins)

After suffering a season-ending injury in his first game as a rookie, Spaight played in 14 games last season and has found a role as a backup linebacker in the interior of the Redskins' 3-4.

Jeremy Sprinkle (Redskins)

Washington traded a tight end late in the preseason, leaving Sprinkle as one of four at the position.

Travis Swanson (Lions)

Swanson missed the final five games last season with a concussion but is the unquestioned starter in the middle of Detroit's front five.

Chris Smith (Bengals)

Smith posted strong numbers in the preseason and appears to be in a stronger position than he was for three years in Jacksonville.

Robert Thomas (Giants)

After signing with five teams in 12 months, Thomas has found a home for more than a year as a backup defensive tackle for the Giants.

Deatrich Wise (Patriots)

Wise is behind after suffering a concussion in the preseason that caused him to miss two exhibition games and part of another.

Jarius Wright (Vikings)

Wright has become a steady performer for the Vikings, making the active roster for the sixth consecutive season.

Practice Squad

Alex Collins (Ravens)

Collins was a late cut by Seattle, where he played in 11 games as a rookie last season.

Keon Hatcher (Raiders)

Hatcher had a touchdown catch in the Raiders' final preseason game.

Cody Hollister (Patriots)

Hollister will remain with his twin brother Jacob, who made New England's active roster as a tight end.

Drew Morgan (Dolphins)

Morgan turned heads with his energy in the Dolphins' open practices this summer.

Dan Skipper (Cowboys)

Skipper cross-trained at guard and tackle during the preseason.

Jonathan Williams (Broncos)

Considered to be the top backup to LeSean McCoy, Williams was a surprising cut by the Bills late in the preseason. The Broncos signed him to a lucrative practice squad deal that could pay him $30,000 per week.

Reserve/Injured

Chris Gragg (Jets)

Gragg is likely to spend a second full season on the IR after he broke his ankle in the Jets' preseason finale. He suffered a torn ACL last preseason with the Bills.

Denver Kirkland (Raiders)

Kirkland suffered a leg injury during the first game of the preseason.

Tevin Mitchel (Colts)

Mitchel is dealing with an abdominal injury. He has lasted three years in the NFL without playing a regular-season snap.
