Korey Hernandez opts to transfer

Arkansas cornerback Korey Hernandez goes through practice Thursday, July 27, 2017, in Fayetteville.

Cornerback Korey Hernandez announced his decision to transfer from Arkansas on Monday via social media.

The 5-10, 180-pounder from Cedar Grove High in Atlanta enrolled early in January 2017 and redshirted last year.

"Just the coaching staff change," Hernandez said. "Nothing too personal. I just feel like I can play elsewhere sooner."

Hernandez was tabbed the No. 8 cornerback in Georgia in the 2017 signing class by Scout. He was not on the two deep during spring practice for the Razorbacks.

"It was just like the situation with the new defense, I really feel it didn't fit my style of play," Hernandez said.

Hernandez added he wasn't sure where he intended to transfer. He thanked "the man above" and "the coaching and academic star for being the great people they are and going the extra mile to ensure my success on and off the field."

Hernandez is the third known Razorback to transfer since the end of spring drills, joining tight end Will Gragg and safety Reid Miller.
