David Williams drafted by Broncos in 7th round

David Williams, Arkansas running back, runs for a 24 yard touchdown after a catch in the fourth quarter against Missouri Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

— Former Arkansas running back David Williams was selected by the Denver Broncos with the 226th pick of the NFL Draft on Saturday.

Williams is the first Arkansas running back to be drafted since 2016 when Jonathan Williams and Alex Collins were taken with the 156th and 171st overall picks.

Williams, who played one season at Arkansas after transferring from South Carolina via the graduate transfer rule, was the Razorbacks’ most productive backfield option in 2017, finishing his career with his highest rushing totals over the team’s final two games.

He finished with 113 total yards of offense and 3 touchdowns on 13 touches against Missouri in the season finale and led Arkansas with 581 yards rushing and six touchdowns in 2017.

Williams becomes the first Arkansas running back to be drafted by the Broncos.
