Linebacker says he'll transfer from Arkansas

Arkansas linebacker Josh Harris (45) celebrates after making a tackle during a game against Alabama on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, in Fayetteville.

— Walk-on linebacker Josh Harris plans to transfer from Arkansas via the NCAA's graduate transfer rule.

Harris, who is on track to complete his degree in finance in May, announced his decision on his Instagram account Monday. Harris said he plans to complete his final year of eligibility elsewhere, but did not specify where.

"These past four seasons have been an amazing experience," Harris wrote, in part. "I’ve seen failure and I’ve seen success, but most of all I’ve learned a lot throughout this process. I want to thank my family for all the support they’ve given me since the day I made the decision to walk on here. I want to thank all of my teammates for the never ending brotherhood that we’ve gained along the way. I also want to thank all of the Razorback fans for the constant support that they show day in and day out."

Harris, a White Hall native, saw playing time in a combined 24 games during the 2015 and 2016 seasons, mostly on special teams, but was not listed on the participation chart during any games as a redshirt junior last season. Harris finished his time at Arkansas with 16 tackles, including a tackle for loss and a forced fumble.

Harris is the son of Jackie Harris, a 12-year tight end in the NFL.

Harris is the third known player from the 2017 roster who will not return to Arkansas for a final year of eligibility. Offensive lineman Zach Rogers told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette he will forego his senior season to enter law enforcement and kicker Cole Hedlund is no longer enrolled at the university.
