Texas A&M defensive end commitment Tyree Wilson didn't expect his official visit to the Arkansas Razorbacks to go so well.
"It was way better than I thought it was going to be," Wilson said. "The environment, it felt more like home than I thought it was going to be. It is going to make it a harder decision between Texas A&M and Arkansas."
Wilson, 6-4, 235 pounds, 4.67 seconds in the 40-yard dash, of New London (Texas) West Rusk has scholarship offers from Texas A&M, Texas, Florida, Baylor, Nebraska, Ole Miss and others. He received an offer from the Hogs on Dec. 13.
He and other recruits watched the Razorbacks basketball team defeat Ole Miss on Saturday afternoon in Walton Arena. It also was an opportunity to witness the passion of the fans.
"They are into their football and their Razorbacks," Wilson said. "It's crazy."
Wilson, who recorded 126 tackles, 5 sacks, 5 forced fumbles and 5 recoveries this season, doesn't have any other visits planned, and it's down to the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and the Aggies.
Good time
New Orleans McDonogh safety Joseph Foucha had a good relationship with Coach Chad Morris and his staff while at SMU, and that helped persuade him to visit the Hogs over the weekend.
He also was surprised by what he experienced.
"It changed my whole perspective of the state of Arkansas," Foucha said. "I wasn't expecting to get the experience that I had. I was around a lot of fun people, met a lot of good people, and I got to see a lot of the state of Arkansas."
Foucha, 5-11, 192, has scholarship offers from Arkansas, LSU, Auburn, Ole Miss, Arizona, Alabama, Baylor and others. He had 68 tackles, 5 interceptions, 6 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries and 15 pass breakups this season.
"The visit helped Arkansas a lot, because this is my first time coming up and seeing it," Foucha said. "They'll definitely be up there in my top three along with Auburn and Arizona State."
Pushing Oklahoma
The Hogs appear to have Oklahoma receiver commitment Treveon Johnson thinking more about the Razorbacks after his official visit.
"It was pretty solid, something I have to take into consideration for real," Johnson said.
Johnson, 6-2, 184, 4.43 seconds in the 40, of Brenham, Texas, received a scholarship offer from Arkansas Coach Chad Morris on Dec. 10 to go along with ones from Oklahoma, TCU, Texas Tech, Minnesota, Oregon State and others.
Spending time with the coaching staff was one of the more enjoyable times of the trip.
"Honestly, just getting the value with the coaching staff and see everything and understand what they're looking for, what they're trying to get me in, what fits me," Johnson said. "I think just being with the coaches was pretty solid this weekend."
He's being recruited by receivers coach Justin Stepp. The prospects who also were visiting Fayetteville caught Johnson's attention.
"The people that were on this official, they're game-changers," said Johnson, whose other visit was to Oklahoma. "They really were. If some of those guys are making their decision, then it would be pretty obvious for me to consider them myself."
His final decision will probably come around national signing day Feb. 7.
