Moody's Arkansas visit 'great,' decision likely on signing day

Jaylen Moody

— Linebacker Jaylen Moody’s official visit to Arkansas was a successful one, but Hog fans will have to wait to learn of his college decision.

“It was great, I had a great time out here,” Moody said. “They showed me a really good time and I was excited to come out here for the first time with my family. It was a great time.”

Moody, 6-2, 225, 4.6 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Conway, South Carolina has scholarship offers from Arkansas, Ole Miss, East Carolina, Georgia State and others. He’s previously visited Ole Miss and Georgia State prior to the trip to Fayetteville.

He plans to visit Alabama next weekend and announce his decision on national signing day.

“I’m going to take it up to February 7,” Moody said. “I’m going to go ahead and take my visit at Alabama next week and see how that goes after that.”

Moody talked about the highlights of the visit.

“The facilities, how they’re changing it, and the great business program that they have,” Moody said.

The Crimson Tide haven’t extended an offer, but that might change.

“I’m not sure about that yet,” Moody said. “They’re supposed to be coming next week to my house for another home visit. I think they’ll let me know then.”

Moody recorded 105 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 3 interceptions and 9 pass breakups this past season. The Hogs are in good shape after the weekend trip with his parents.

“Arkansas is up there,” he said. “They’re a top team.”

Defensive coordinator John Chavis has been recruiting Moody.

“He’s the ‘G.O.A.T’ of everything,” Moody said. “He’s a great defensive coordinator. I feel like he can get me to where I need and make me a better player. I like him a lot.”

Former North Little Rock Charging Wildcat and Arkansas sophomore linebacker Tyler Phillips was Moody’s host.

“He was a cool dude, a great man and I had a great time with him,” Moody said. “I’m excited I got to hang with him.”

The traditional dinner at the famed Catfish Hole was a hit with Moody.

“I've never had anything like that. I was very surprised.”
