Texas prep OL Garrett Hayes lands Razorback offer

Garrett Hayes

— This could be a big week for Athens, Texas, offensive lineman Garrett Hayes (6-4, 278 pounds), who got it started with an offer from Arkansas on Monday after his performance a night earlier at a Razorbacks camp.

He did so in front of Arkansas offensive line coach Dustin Fry.

“I think I did all right,” Hayes said. “It was fun and we worked hard. Coach (Fry) just told me that I did a good job and that they are really interested and just wants me to come back.”

Evans, who already had an offer from Baylor and will be at Texas on Tuesday and Texas A&M on Saturday, liked the Fayetteville area on his first visit.

“This is the first time,” Hayes said. “I like it, though, the country and everything.”

He sized up his game after the camp.

“I have got to keep working on keeping my shoulders back and staying straight,” Hayes said. “That’s about it. I feel good about my blocking and speed.”
