Foster gets a good look at Arkansas

Josh Foster

— Newton, Texas, athlete Josh Foster (6-1, 170) could play many positions in college, but Arkansas just hopes he has a Razorback jersey on while doing so.

Foster, who has 13 offers, took an official visit to Arkansas this weekend.

“It was real nice getting to hang out with the players and stuff, look around Arkansas,” Foster said. “I love it a lot, too. It was more than I expected it to be. It’s really a place I could see myself being at.”

Foster, who quarterbacked Newton last seeason, has been close to Arkansas assistants Jeff Traylor and Mark Smith.

“I love talking to Coach Traylor and Coach Smith, hanging out with them,” Foster said. “They’re really cool people.”

Sophomore cornerback Chevin Calloway was Foster’s host.

“It was real cool hanging out with him a lot,” Foster said. “We went out last night, just hanging around with other people, getting to meet new people. It was a really fun, nice experience.

Foster is likely to take two more visits this month.

“I’m going to Utah next weekend,” Foster said. “And probably Vanderbilt maybe in September during the season. So we’ll see how that goes.”

He is working to develop his skills.

“Just being able to make plays as an athlete. I can better myself just becoming a better football player, period,” Foster said. “Just working on my skillset and being able to make more plays to help the team out.”

Foster listed some factors that will help him make his decision.

“Probably most where I feel comfortable in the environment,” Foster said. “Not just for football, but staying in case I get hurt or something and I can’t play football any more; where I feel comfortable staying at. That’s the main thing.”
