Nash flips from Missouri to Arkansas

Arkansas has added another IMG Academy prospect to its roster.

Wide receiver Shamar Nash (6-1, 195), a Memphis native and a former Missouri commit, was revved up about his official visit to Arkansas this weekend and committed at the end .

“It’s the coaches and the players, the atmosphere and the city,” Nash said. “I love the vibe and the entire thing it is about. It is all about football. It is all about Arkansas football."

Arkansas senior offensive lineman Hjalte Froholdt is a former IMG prospect.

“I love the coaching staff, I love the people,” Nash said. “It was a great trip and I look forward to coming back. It’s a great place to be.”

Nash is especially fond of Razorback wide receiver coach Justin Stepp.

“Coach Stepp is my dude,” Nash said. “If it wasn’t for Coach Stepp, Arkansas wouldn’t be as highly recommended as they are. He is as real as they come. He is a family guy. He cares about my family as much as he cares about his own. He cares about my future as much as he cares about anybody else’s. I just have to appreciate him for that.”

The food was a big hit for Nash.

“My favorite part of the visit was the Catfish Hole,” Nash said. “That was really, really good. The food was great and the people were really amazing. I had everything: shrimp, hush puppies, steak, chicken.”

Nash continues to work on developing his game.

“I’m still working on stacking, stacking on the deep ball,” Nash said. “I feel really good about my releases and getting even with the defender.”

Nash, who’s rated a 4-star prospect by CBS Sports Network national recruiting analyst Tom Lemming, is happy about his decision to attend IMG Academy after playing his junior season at Memphis Central High School.

“IMG was a great decision for me. It’s been beneficial to my future. I really appreciate IMG and it has been very beneficial to the process.”
