Future Razorback Braylon Bishop proud of Arkansas' berth in CWS

Braylon Bishop

— Because of his busy summer baseball and football camp schedule, 2021 Ashdown standout and Arkansas baseball commit Braylon Bishop has not gotten to watch as much of the Diamond Hogs as he would like.

Bishop (6-0, 175), a lefty quarterback who was in Fayetteville Thursday for Arkansas’ Elite QB/WR camp and Friday at Baum Stadium for a baseball tournament, is nevertheless very proud of the so-called 'Omahogs' and their push into the College World Series.

“I’ve been so busy that I haven’t got a chance to watch them, but it is really cool and I am very happy for the program, the coaches and the players,” Bishop said. “I really think they have a chance to win it all.”

Bishop, who committed to Arkansas on Dec. 16, is a left-handed hitting and throwing outfielder who plays summer baseball for the Sticks Baseball Academy and was named honorable mention on Perfect Game Underclassman All-American team.

Bishop hit.398 with three homers, 14 doubles and 2 triples for Ashdown this season.

He would like to play both football and baseball at Arkansas.

“One of the reasons I am up here for this camp is to try and earn a football offer as well because I want to play both sports at Arkansas,” Bishop said. “I think that will be able to work out because I will put in the work.”

Bishop played in four games last season with the varsity at the end of his junior high season, completing 31 of 68 passes for 411 yards, 2 touchdowns and rushed 17 times for 39 yards and a touchdown.

He did so in relief of Ashdown senior quarterback and LSU baseball signee Jaden Hill, who is his cousin, as is Razorback 2018 defensive back signee LaDarius Bishop.

He’s also had two older brothers who have excelled in sports with Cedrick having played baseball at LSU while Tajhnick is currently a cornerback and Louisiana-Monroe.

“We have a very athletic family,” Bishop said. “I’m just trying to continue the way we do things.”

Ashdown went 26-10 and won its conference with a 13-1 record and made it to the Class 4A state tournament quarterfinals before losing to Pottsville 3-2.
