What Chad Morris said after Arkansas' second spring scrimmage

Arkansas coach Chad Morris speaks with players Wednesday, March 28, 2018, during practice at the university's practice facility on campus in Fayetteville.

-"I was really disappointed to be honest with you," Chad Morris said as he stepped to the podium. "I really thought it was going to rain more."

-Morris thought they were a little sloppy on Monday and the staff challenged them today. They're getting better. Guys are a long way away, but the progress made through nine practices has been "incredible."

-Morris said he has been pleased defensively with where they are...has to continue to develop depth. Tempo in tomorrow's practice will not be as high tempo as today.

-Cole Kelley has had three good days in a row. Today, Morris said he felt Kelley picked up where he was hoping he would. Offensive line, the design today with the conditions was to run the football.

-Morris: "We started out with Sosa (Agim) at an end, but with Gabe Richardson coming on and the depth we've got to have, we wanted him inside. We feel we need 7-8 on the line to move through the season." Sosa has done a good job there, but could still be moved outside.

-Morris said he likes the linebacker spot. Said it's a "sound" group. Randy Ramsey is continuing every day to set himself apart, and he's becoming a force at the rush end spot. "He's got the total package."

-Secondary wise, Ryan Pulley is as good a corner as there is and he's playing with great confidence, Morris said. Kam Curl has found a home at safety.

-Devwah Whaley has a chance to be really special, Morris said. "We've just had a few busts in the way we want to play. We want to play fast and let them make mistakes right now and fix that in the film room." Chase Hayden ran the ball well today. Morris said he feels good about the group as a whole.

-On guys banged up: Jared Cornelius is getting more individual work and skelly work. Jeremy Patton has a stinger in his neck. He'll be fine. "It happened on Monday, so we decided to hold him out."

-Brandon Martin had a foot sprain. Martin was seen in a walking boot on his right foot, but it's just precautionary, Morris said.

-On offensive tackle play: Brian Wallace is really coming on. Pace of play is getting better for him.

-Morris said it's neat to have some of the former players come back. He visited with Ryan Mallett yesterday. Jarius Wright was in attendance today.

-Morris said right now he thinks the team is right on schedule. "We've come a long way." Guys are learning what the "standard" is.

-Morris said the spring game will be 1s vs. 1s. "I want to get some good one on one work in." There will be some players that are limited.

-"It's a wash right now at quarterback. I'll say this: Ty (Storey) started out the spring and progressed heavily. Cole did not start as fast as Ty, but he's come on." He said he thought Daulton Hyatt had one of his better days today. A decision on a quarterback won't be made anytime soon.
