Arkansas Razorbacks senior Taliyah Brooks scored 5,946 points to win the heptathlon at the Texas Relays on Thursday. It was Brooks’ second Texas Relays heptathlon title. She also won in 2016 and finished second last year.

“I was decently happy with the results,” Brooks said in a news release. “We used this meet as more of a training session. We were trying to just get a qualifying mark for nationals.

“I think overall I had a good two days. We will use the rest of the season for training, sharpening up on my individual events, and preparing for the next heptathlon during championship season.”

Brooks took first in the 100-meter hurdles (13.28 seconds), 200 meters (23.99) and long jump (20 feet, 8 inches). In other events she went 5-7 3/4 in the high jump, threw the javelin 121-1 and the shot-put 38-5 1/2, and ran the 800 in 2:21.17.
