— Arkansas running backs coach Jeff Traylor is reportedly a candidate for the head coaching vacancy at Stephen F. Austin, according to FootballScoop.com.

Traylor is a former player at Stephen F. Austin and is one of four reported candidates to replace Clint Conque as the team's head coach. Conque, a longtime former head coach at Central Arkansas, resigned prior to the season amid an investigation into an undisclosed violation of university policy.

The Lumberjacks, a member of the Southland Conference in the NCAA's Football Championship Subdivision, went 2-8 in 2018.

Traylor had a long high school head coaching career in Gilmer, Texas, where he went 175-26 and won three state championships in 15 seasons. The high school stadium in Gilmer is named for him.

Gilmer is located about 85 miles north of the Stephen F. Austin campus in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Traylor has spent the past four seasons coaching college football at Texas, SMU and Arkansas, and has been lauded as an effective recruiter for the Razorbacks in East Texas.
