Arkansas 'home sweet home' to Otey

Adonis Otey

— In the first hours of his official visit, Arkansas cornerback commitment Adonis Otey tweeted out a photo of Razorback Stadium with the words 'Home sweet Home.'

“The driver just wanted to show us the red of the stadium,” Otey said. “So we just drove by. It was pretty nice.”

Otey, 6-0, 170 pounds of Blackman High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn., picked the Razorbacks over scholarship offers from schools like Ohio State, Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Louisville, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and others.

He recruited several of the uncommitted prospects on the visit.

“Most definitely, I was recruiting Jalen Catalon,” Otey said. “I was trying to get him to go ahead and jump on board.”

He’s optimistic about Arkansas’ chances with Catalon.

“It was pretty hot,” Otey said. “I mean, he should commit soon.”

An ESPN 4-star prospect, Otey has recorded 434 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns on 40 carries along with 5 catches for 213 yards and 4 touchdowns this season. He was impressed with the Hogs’ showing against Alabama.

“I feel like they are getting better each week,” Otey said. “They put up the most points and yards any team has against Alabama.”

His teammate and wide receiver Trey Knox pledged to the Hogs earlier in the week.

“It felt pretty nice,” Knox said. “We have been playing together since middle school. So now we will play together in college and make it even better.”
