Enoch Jackson's pledge to Arkansas remains strong

Future Hog DL Enoch Jackson Jr.

— Enoch Jackson (6-0, 290) can’t wait to hit somebody and was wishing he could have jumped out and helped Arkansas’ defense against Alabama on Saturday.

But the Mansfield (Texas) Legacy three-star defensive tackle and Razorback pledge is in a holding pattern right now with a cast on after breaking his wrist.

Jackson, whose cast is scheduled to come off Oct. 18, was still able to enjoy his time at Arkansas this weekend as he and pair of teammates in defensive end Taurean Carter (6-3, 260) and safety Jalen Catalon (5-11, 190) took official visits to Fayetteville.

“It was a fun, great experience,” Jackson said. “Even the atmosphere at the game was fun. I really liked it.”

Jackson, who chose Arkansas over Clemson, Texas Tech and others, has a firm belief in Razorbacks head coach Chad Morris’ ability to turn the program around.

“I just like what Coach Chad Morris does with programs,” Jackson said. “Like what he did at Clemson. He kind of turned it around like he did at SMU. He helped those guys turn it around and now they're doing pretty good and he’s going to do the same things at Arkansas.

“Especially with the recruits he has and the way he coaches. He just really cares. He actually loves you and it’s more than football.”

He did his own recruiting with his teammates and other uncommitted visitors this weekend.

“Trying to get them to join something special that we’re about to create,” Jackson said.

Jackson would love to come in and help Arkansas immediately.

“I know nothing is given to me, so I know I have to work,” Jackson said. “I have to work my tail off and work everyday and if coach happens to throw me in there I’m going to make some plays. I’ve always been a playmaker. So if coach puts me in there I’m going to make a play.”

Mansfield Legacy came into this year as the No. 1 team in Class 5A off a 12-3 campaign last season and a trip to the state semifinals.

But Catalon was lost to a season-ending injury in Game 1, Jackson suffered his injury three weeks later and Legacy has struggled to a 2-3 mark so far this season.

The Broncos, who had a bye this past weekend, will try to bounce back Friday when they play two-time defending state champion Highland Park, which has Razorbacks 2020 quarterback target Chandler Morris.
