The Recruiting Guy

Arkansas love has Hogs in 4-star lineman's top 3

2020 offensive lineman Chris Morris has Arkansas in his top three.

— Arkansas' coaching staff has the Hogs as one of the leaders for a highly recruited junior offensive lineman.

Chris Morris, 6-4, 280 pounds, of Memphis Freedom Prep Academy, has a offer list from the who's who of college football. Some of his offers include Arkansas, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas A&M, Alabama, Florida and Georgia, among others.

“Arkansas is up to the top three because of the recruiting they’ve put in for me,” Morris said. “They’ve been showing a lot of love. They act like family, and they’ve been showing some energy and showing they care.”

National recruiting analyst Tom Lemming of CBS Sports Network was in Fayetteville on Saturday morning to meet several of the top prospects in the region. He likes Morris' ability and rates him a 4-star plus prospect.

“He’s a terrific athlete,” Lemming said. “He’s around 280 but has the frame to weigh 300. He can really run and is very agile.”

Morris said he doesn’t have a school at the top of his list.

“I don’t have a No. 1 yet, but Texas A&M is definitely at No. 2,” he said.

He said the Razorbacks staff doesn’t miss a day of communication.

“They text like on a daily basis and give me good speeches to use during the day and during the week and make sure my mind is in the right place before games,” Morris said. “I talk to all of them really, Coach [Chad] Morris and Coach [Dustin] Fry. All of those guys.”

Morris visited the Hogs for the second time for the Alabama game Saturday.

“I’ve seen a lot of improvement because now the stadium is done,” he said. “It was under construction when I visited, and now it’s better. It looks great.”
