The Recruiting Guy

UNDER THE RADAR: Lafayette County's Corderious Thompson

Defensive lineman Corderious Thompson.

Each Wednesday, we feature an in-state prospect that could be flying under the radar of college coaches. This week's UTR prospect is Lafayette County's Corderious Thompson.

Class: 2019

Position: Defensive line

Size: 6-3, 250

Stats: 51 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 2 recovered fumbles

Interest: Louisiana Tech, Ouachita Baptist, Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Coach Bobby Clark:

“Everybody is starting to notice him on film now. He’s getting bigger every day; he’s in the weight room lifting. He’s 6-3, 250 right now, and nobody can block him. Coach [Mark] King, Foreman’s coach, told me after the game, he said, ‘Coach, we can’t block him.’”

Good strength:

“He’s benching about 360. He squats right at 400. He’s dominating right now in 2A football. I think everyone you put against him he can whoop ’em at this level.”

Most likely an interior lineman in college:

“He’s not a speed guy. I feel like he’s a college guy that’s going to play inside D-line. They can put at least 30 to 40 pounds on him after that first year, and he’s going to be a monster. He’s physical and makes tackles.”

Good character and work ethic:

“He’s a great kid. He’s probably the best kid I’ve had in a while. He’s ‘yes sir, no sir.’ He’s in the weight room. You don’t have to watch him lift. He’s going to get every lift. He's going to be there when no one else is there. Last year, he was staying after practice and getting a second lift. He’s a hard worker. That’s what’s going to make him … if he does make it to a D-I school, that's what is going to make him D-I because of his work ethic. He’s just that type of kid. He’s going to do everything you ask and more to get better.”
