Hogs give Searcy's Vest another next-level offer

Searcy OL Drew Vest.

Searcy offensive lineman Drew Vest has several options to play at the next level, and on Tuesday, he added a preferred walk-on offer from Arkansas.

He and Razorbacks offensive line coach Dustin Fry talked about the Hogs’ coming game and the team before Fry extended the offer.

“He called me and we talked about the Ole Miss game and what it’s like at War Memorial,” Vest said. “He told me that he would love to have me as a preferred walk-on, and that they would take me at mid-year if I choose to be with them.”

Vest (6-5, 293 pounds) caught Fry’s eye when he dominated at the Arkansas offensive and defensive line padded camp in June. He’s committed to Central Arkansas and has other scholarship offers from Air Force, Yale, Dartmouth, Lamar, Tennessee-Martin, South Alabama, Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist and others.

Lions Coach Mark Kelley is complimentary of Vest.

“Drew is an awesome teammate and great leader for us,” Kelley said. “He is a guy that really makes everyone around him better. There is no doubt in my mind that he will be great at whatever he decides to do.”

Vest added another preferred walk-on offer from SMU on Wednesday.

“As of right now, I’m remaining committed to UCA because I really like those guys, and I’m going to really pray hard and weigh my options,” Vest said.
