Diamond Hogs modify dates, format for fall intrasquad series

Arkansas pitcher Kole Ramage throws a pitch to a UALR batter during the Razorbacks baseball scrimmage against UALR on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock.

— Arkansas' annual Cardinal and White Series has been shortened because of weather concerns.

The Razorbacks will play a best-of-three intrasquad series beginning Tuesday at 1 p.m. A second scrimmage is scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m. and a third scrimmage will be played Friday at 3 p.m. if necessary.

The series was scheduled to be a best-of-five beginning Monday at 1 p.m., but there is a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.

The Cardinal and White Series is the traditional end to the Razorbacks' fall practice season that began Sept. 7 and cannot last longer than 45 days.

Arkansas has played a pair of 14-inning exhibitions against other teams this month. The Razorbacks defeated Wichita State 10-1 on Oct. 5 at Baum Stadium and Arkansas-Little Rock 16-2 on Friday in Little Rock.

Following the UALR scrimmage, Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said pitchers Isaiah Campbell and Matt Cronin would be held out of the Cardinal and White Series.

The Game 1 pitching matchup is scheduled to be between sophomore right-hander Caleb Bolden and freshman left-hander Patrick Wicklander.

All scrimmages are open to the public free of charge.
