Burks out for the season with injury

Warren wide receiver Treylon Burks (center) has helped lead the Lumberjacks to the Class 4A state championship game the past two seasons. The Lumberjacks defeated Pea Ridge in the 2016 title game, but lost last season to Arkadelphia.

University of Arkansas receiver commitment Treylon Burks underwent surgery last Thursday after suffering a season-ending injury against Dumas the week before.

Warren Coach Bo Hembree said Burks' injury occurred on defense during a non-contact part of the Dumas game, according to the Lumberjacks pre-game broadcast before the game against DeWitt on Friday.

An ESPN 4-star prospect, Burks is also rated the No. 11 wide receiver and No. 84 overall prospect in the nation.

Burks (6-3, 210 pounds) of Warren chose the Razorbacks over scholarship offers from LSU, Clemson, Auburn, Ole Miss, Michigan, Tennessee, South Florida and others July 30.

Along with Trey Knox, Shamar Nash and TQ Jackson, Burks is part of what is considered one of the best receiver classes in the nation for Arkansas in 2019.
