The Recruiting Guy

Hogs high on Texas tight end's list

Brandon Frazier

One of the keys in recruiting is getting prospects on campus multiple times and Arkansas has been successful in doing that with highly regarded junior tight end Brandon Frazier.

Frazier, 6-6, 240 pounds of McKinney North High School in Texas, has scholarship offers from Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, SMU and Purdue and is drawing interest from numerous others.

He visited in the spring and earned his Arkansas offer during a camp in June. His latest trip to Fayetteville was for the Tulsa game on Saturday.

“I really like the campus,” Frazier said. “That’s my third time going up there. Really love the coaching staff.”

Frazier stays in touch with Razorbacks coach Chad Morris, tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. and offensive analyst Will Bryant.

“I have a good relationship with coach Lunney, coach Bryant, coach Morris,” said Frazier, who saw Lunney attend his game prior to the Hogs playing Texas A&M. “Pretty much everyone up there, honestly.”

He recorded 22 catches for 423 yards and 4 touchdowns as a sophomore. Frazier’s recent trip was to take in Arkansas’ game atmosphere.

“I just wanted to go and see the support from the fans,” Frazier said. “I know they’re having an off year, but they’re going to get it together. I believe that they’ll start winning some games this year and then carry over into next season.”

He said the Hogs’ recruiting class and the staff give him confidence the Razorbacks will turn things around.

“It’s their first year and they came in December, so they haven’t even had a full year to not even coach their own players they’ve recruited,” Frazier said. “I think the guys they have there now are real good, especially at the tight end position. They were going some good things on Saturday.”

Frazier was able mingle with 5-star tight end commitment Hudson Henry before the game on Saturday.

“Arkansas got a really good player, I’ll tell you that,” Frazier said. “A really good guy.”

The three trips to Fayetteville has the Razorbacks high on his list.

“Arkansas is definitely one of my top choices,” he said.

His connection with the coaches is another reason for Frazier thinking so highly of Arkansas.

“I talk to coach Lunney twice a week and try and call him at least once a week,” Frazier said. “They’re always texting me asking about my games and practice, so we’re always connecting and creating that strong bond with one another.”
