Arkansas-Colorado State predictions

The altitude is about the only thing that I see slowing down the Hogs. Colorado State’s defense hasn’t been able to stop a thing in an 0-2 start. There is consternation about the running game after the opener, but the Hogs will be able to run and throw in Fort Collins. If there is a difference in these two teams, it’s speed. Arkansas is just much quicker and faster on both sides of the ball. Cole Kelley will have a bounce-back game, if and when his chance happens. He’s a much more efficient quarterback than he showed in the opener. Arkansas, 42-17

Colorado State’s defense has been missing in action in losses to Hawaii and Colorado. The Rams are at home, but it would appear that Arkansas’ defense is better than recent seasons and will be able to get a few stops and turnovers to pull this one out on the road. Arkansas, 38-28

Even if Arkansas struggles to run the ball again, its passing game should be good enough to outscore the Rams, whose defense has looked bad through two games. I expect a high-scoring game on the Front Range. Arkansas, 41-33

After a dreadful opener running the ball, Colorado State could be a “get right” game for the Arkansas ground game. The Rams gave up 199 yards rushing to Colorado. Arkansas, 42-21

In an 0-2 start at home, the Rams have given up 88 points and more than 1,200 yards. Arkansas, 45-13

Is the quarterback battle over or just heating up real good? Expect the first half of the CSU game to settle the matter. Either way the Hogs have to find a way to get the rushing game on track early. Arkansas, 38-27

Arkansas — particularly Ty Storey — picks up where it left off in the passing game and has another successful day through the air. John Chavis’ defense shows improvement from Week 1 and forces a couple more turnovers. Arkansas, 28-17

Colorado State is far from a good team, but this game might just be a lot closer than many might expect. If Arkansas continues to struggle in the run game and doesn’t force a million turnovers (like in the EIU game), the Hogs could be in for a fight in Fort Collins. The Rams haven’t been good vs. the run or the pass, so we’ll give this one to the Hogs. Arkansas, 31-24

Balance will be the key word this week as the Hogs look to get the run game going. Colorado State has defended the run about as well as I defend the post-up down in the paint. The more balanced Arkansas is in the pass-run game, the more Chad Morris’ offense will be able to show what it can do. Arkansas, 45-24
