DFW running back excited about Arkansas offer

2020 RB Jaden Hullaby.

— Arkansas extended an offer to junior running back Jaden Hullaby on Sept. 3, and he was glad they did.

“I’m really interested in Arkansas,” Hullaby said. “I’ve always liked them since I was young. It’s a big offer for me.”

In addition to the offer from the Hogs, Hullaby, 6-2, 210 pounds, of Bishop Dunne in Dallas, has 12 other offers from Baylor, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan State and others. He communicates with associate head coach and running backs coach Jeff Traylor.

“We talk about every 2 to 3 days,” Hullaby said. “I plan on going to the Alabama game next week. He said they’re trying to build something special down there and trying to get guys like me.”

Bishop Dunne coach Michael Johnson said Hullaby has a lot of things to like at running back.

“Very smart and intelligent kid, hard worker, but what separates him is his athleticism. He can run and catch out of the backfield,” Johnson said. “He has some toughness when it comes to blocking. He’s a guy that’s real patient when he’s running. He’s not just a bruising back. He can do a lot of things.”

Hullaby, who recorded 4.54 seconds in the 40-yard dash at a camp as a freshman, rushed 40 times for 284 yards and 3 touchdowns as a sophomore. He has 51 carries for 268 yards and 3 touchdowns along with 17 catches for 85 yards in four games this season.

He said defensive backs don’t like seeing him in the open field.

“They get a little scared,” said Hullaby, who also talks to graduate assistant Julian B. Griffin. “A lot of people when they see me they don’t think I’m that fast. They underestimate my speed. They go for my legs. They don’t want to hit me.”
