Arkansas impresses explosive Oklahoma defensive lineman

2021 DL Solomon Wright.

Arkansas impressed one of the top sophomore prospects in Oklahoma during Sunday’s prospect day.

Defensive lineman Solomon Wright (6-0, 255) of Vian, Okla., has scholarship offers from Oklahoma State and Iowa State. Him, his brother and junior athlete Elijah Wright visited the Hogs on Sunday.

“I felt like it was a great experience and I liked all the coaches and just the atmosphere at Arkansas was amazing,” Wright said. “The Jerry and Gene Jones facility was like nothing I've ever seen on a campus. It was amazing. My coaches and parents tell me I’m a student first.”

His father Kenyatta Wright, a Fort Smith native, played linebacker for Oklahoma State, the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills. The Wrights have family members in Arkansas that root for the Razorbacks and also know Arkansas safety Kamren Curl and family.

"We have family. They are Hog fans and we know Kamren Curl and his family," Wright said. "They always talk about how great Arkansas is."

Coach Chad Morris and tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. made Wright and his family feel at ease during the visit.

“Made everyone feel like Arkansas is our home and we are family,” Wright said. “They said I am welcome any time and that means a lot to me.”

Wright used his explosiveness and strength to record 91 tackles, 11 sacks and 31 tackles for loss this past season. He posted an impressive 40-yard dash at an Oklahoma camp last summer.

“I was timed at OU last summer before my sophomore year. They told me I was 4.68,” Wright said.

He has benched pressed 315 pounds and squatted 500 pounds. Wright would welcome an offer from Arkansas.

“It would mean a lot to me,” said Wright, who plans to attend an Arkansas camp this summer along with his brother. “It’s definitely one of my top schools I would like to attend.”
