Former Razorback Horton hired at Vanderbilt

Tim Horton spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Arkansas.

Tim Horton has another SEC coaching job.

Horton, a former University of Arkansas football player and assistant coach, is the new running backs coach at Vanderbilt.

Commodores Coach Derek Mason announced Horton’s addition to his staff on Wednesday.

Vanderbilt will be the third consecutive SEC school where Horton has been the running backs coach along with Arkansas (2007-12) and Auburn (2013-18).

After last season Horton was re-assigned to a role off the field on the Auburn football staff.

Horton was a team captain as a receiver and punt returner at Arkansas after starring at Conway High School. He played on the Razorbacks’ Southwest Conference championship teams in 1988 and 1989.

Horton’s father, Harold, was a player, assistant coach and administrator at Arkansas and served as execute director of the Razorback Foundation.
