Kelley transferring to Southeastern Louisiana

Cole Kelley, Arkansas quarterback, throws the ball before taking a hit from LaDarius Hamilton, North Texas defensive end, in the 2nd quarter Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

Former Arkansas quarterback Cole Kelley is transferring to Southeastern Louisiana, according to a post on his Twitter account Saturday evening.

"I am extremely excited for this opportunity and I can’t wait to begin the next chapter of my life back in this great state," wrote Kelley, a Lafayette, La., native.

Kelley, a redshirt sophomore who started six games in two seasons but saw his role in the offense diminish as the 2018 season went along, announced Dec. 3 he would be leaving the Arkansas program.

Kelley finished the 2018 season completing 35 of 67 passes for 455 yards, 5 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He also rushed for three touchdowns, which led the team.

He is the first quarterback with starting experience to transfer from Arkansas since 2008, when Nathan Dick transferred to Central Arkansas less than three weeks after starting the season finale against LSU.
