FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas junior receiver La'Michael Pettway is leaving the program and will pursue a graduate transfer, according to a post on his Twitter account.

“Deciding what’s right for you, your family, & teammates can sometimes prove to be difficult. … After close evaluation of my goals as an athlete & scholar I have decided not to play receiver at The University of Arkansas in the future,” Pettway wrote. “I’ll continue my pursuit of my bachelor’s degree here at The University, & graduate transfer out to continue my athletic career elsewhere.

“Nothing personal, I just have to do what’s best for my family and I.”

Pettway finished the 2018 season as Arkansas' leading receiver after totaling 499 yards and four touchdowns. He was tied for the team lead in receptions (30) with Cheyenne O'Grady. The Nashville, Ark., native caught five passes for a career-high 93 yards and two scores in the season-opening win against Eastern Illinois.

Pettway caught six passes for 92 yards in nine games as a sophomore in 2017.

He was a four-star prospect, according to ESPN, out of Nashville High School, the No. 8 player in Arkansas and No. 60 receiver in the nation. Pettway is a criminal justice major.
