Second generation of Pools, Clarks could be Arkansas alums

Once upon a time, Jeff Pool and Travis Clark were college buddies at Arkansas, and there’s a chance their sons could be as well.

Current Razorbacks linebacker Bumper Pool was the host this weekend on the Arkansas official visit of Dallas (Texas) Highland Park cornerback/kicker Hudson Clark (6-1, 170).

“The visit was a great time,” Clark said. “They took us around all the facilities, everything was nice, they treated us like we were kings. It was a great experience to be able to be around the students and the team and coaches. Bumper Pool kept us out of trouble. Our dads went to college together, so meeting him was fun.”

Clark had 40 tackles, 8 interceptions and 6 pass deflections as a senior on a 16-0 Highland Park team that won its third straight state title.

Clark’s current decision is between the Razorbacks and Mustangs to play football and being a student at the University of Texas.

“If I don’t play, I like Texas, but I think I’m definitely going to play. I’m still planning a date for my SMU visit," he said.

Obviously SMU is nearby, but Arkansas does have plenty of positives, according to Clark.

“The fans, the community, the town, those are all pros here,” Clark said. “My relationship with the staff is good. They reach out and talk to me a lot and make it feel like home here.”

His parents were both Arkansas students.

“My parents seem pretty excited that I’m just on campus. They both went here and love it,” Clark said.
